Ohio State cornerback Davison Igbinosun announces plans to play next year

Ohio State Cornerback Davison Igbinosun to Come Back for Another Season

Ohio State's Davison Igbinosun still has his sights set on the NFL, but not immediately.

The Buckeyes' cornerback, who has been a starter for the past two seasons, has decided to forgo this year's NFL draft. Igbinosun, who could have been a Day 2 pick if he had chosen to go pro, explained his decision to stay at Ohio State, which just won the national championship on Monday.

The deadline for early entry into the draft for players from Notre Dame and Ohio State was Friday.

During his time with the Buckeyes, Igbinosun has been named an All-Big Ten honorable mention twice. He told ESPN that he is looking forward to "the opportunity to lead and do it all over again. And have a bigger role as a leader, as more is going to be expected of me as a senior."

He also has his sights set on a future call from the NFL, saying that he is "coming back to school to be a first-round pick."

To achieve that goal, Igbinosun knows he needs to work on cutting down on penalties. According to ESPN, he was called for 16 penalties in coverage, making him the cornerback with the most penalties in college football during the 2024-25 season.

He will be one of only three returning starters on defense for the Buckeyes.

In his 29 games with Ohio State, Igbinosun has recorded 104 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions, 16 passes defensed, and three fumble recoveries.
