Eli Holstein, Pittsburgh's Quarterback, Set to Begin Against Louisville
Pitt quarterback Eli Holstein is set to make his return from injury and start against Louisville this Saturday, according to multiple reports.
Holstein has been sidelined for the past month due to apparent head injuries, but he is now ready to take the field once again.
In the Panthers' game against Syracuse on October 24, Holstein left after taking a hit on a run. However, he was able to play the following week against then-No. 20 SMU. Unfortunately, he suffered another apparent head injury in the next game against Virginia and had to leave the game.
Last week, Holstein was dressed but did not play in the Panthers' loss to Clemson. However, he has been medically cleared and is ready to start for Pitt (7-3, 3-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) this weekend. Coach Pat Narduzzi told reporters on Thursday that he was unsure of who would be starting, but Holstein has been given the green light to play.
Holstein earned the starting job during training camp and has had a solid season so far. As a transfer from Alabama, he has completed 61.9 percent of his passes for 2,177 yards and 17 touchdowns in nine games. He is also the team's second-leading rusher with 323 yards and three touchdowns.
In Holstein's absence, Nate Yarnell started against Clemson and threw for 350 yards on 34 completions out of 54 attempts.
