'Eastern Michigan appoints Raiders' Maxx Crosby as assistant General Manager'
Maxx Crosby, the star pass rusher for the Las Vegas Raiders, has made history by becoming the first active NFL player to take on an administrative role with an NCAA team. On Monday, the university announced that Crosby will be joining the Eastern Michigan football program as its assistant general manager.
The 27-year-old Crosby, who was a standout player at Eastern Michigan from 2016-2018 and holds the record for most career sacks with 20, will be assisting his alma mater in various tasks. This includes evaluating prospects, managing the NIL budget, and helping with alumni relations, student-athlete support, and fundraising efforts.
In a statement, Crosby expressed his gratitude towards Eastern Michigan University, stating that it played a crucial role in his personal and athletic development. He also announced that he and his wife Rachel will be making a donation to the EMU program and will be launching a fundraising challenge called "Maxx Match" where he will match all donations made to the football program before the end of May, up to $100,000.
According to athletic director Scott Wetherbee, Crosby's return to EMU in a leadership role is a significant moment for the football program. He praised Crosby's passion, vision, and generosity and stated that with him on board, they are building a better football program and a stronger future for EMU athletics.
Crosby, a four-time Pro Bowl selection, recently signed a three-year, $106.5 million extension with the Raiders, making him the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history. He surpassed Cleveland Browns' Myles Garrett, who signed a four-year, $160 million deal.
In his 95 games (89 starts) since being drafted by the Raiders in 2019, Crosby has recorded 366 tackles and 59.5 sacks. In the 2024 season, he led the team with 7.5 sacks and 45 tackles before undergoing season-ending ankle surgery.
