Breaking News: Rece Davis Rejects Fox Offer, Chooses to Remain at ESPN

According to The Athletic, ESPN has secured the services of long-standing "College GameDay" presenter Rece Davis for a seven-year contract worth "tens of millions" of dollars.

Fox Sports had reportedly made a strong effort to recruit Davis as the host of its "Big Noon Kickoff" pregame show, which is the main rival to "College GameDay" on Saturdays during college football season.

Prior to joining ESPN in 1995, the 59-year-old Davis worked as a sports anchor and reporter at a television station in Flint, Michigan. He has held various roles in ESPN's coverage before becoming the original host of "College GameDay" in 2005. Davis also presents the college basketball edition of the show.

The Athletic states that Davis accepted a "slight hometown discount" to remain with ESPN, where he will have the lead hosting duties for college football until 2032 - the end of the network's College Football Playoff contract. The report also mentions that Fox's offer included hosting the coverage of the 2026 men's World Cup and commentating on college basketball games.

At Fox, Rob Stone is the host of "Big Noon Kickoff" and is joined by a panel consisting of Charles Woodson, Brady Quinn, Matt Leinart, and Urban Meyer.

Davis' colleagues at ESPN include Desmond Howard, Kirk Herbstreit, Nick Saban, Lee Corso, and Pat McAfee.
