Ex-MVP Nneka Ogwumike making comeback to Storm

Chiney Ogwumike, an ESPN analyst and sister of Nneka Ogwumike, announced on Friday that Nneka will be returning to the Seattle Storm in 2025.

Nneka Ogwumike, who previously won the 2016 WNBA Most Valuable Player award, had a successful career with the Los Angeles Sparks. However, she left the team in free agency before the 2024 season and joined the Seattle Storm.

This winter, Ogwumike had the opportunity to become an unrestricted free agent again and ultimately decided to sign with the Storm for a second season.

In 2024, she was named to the All-WNBA second team after averaging 16.7 points, 7.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.9 steals per game in 37 games (all starts). She also had career-highs in 3-pointers made (30) and attempted (74), resulting in a shooting percentage of 40.5. Additionally, Ogwumike was selected to the All-Star Game for the ninth time in her career.

Throughout her 393-game career (392 starts) with the Sparks (2012-23) and Storm, Ogwumike has maintained averages of 16.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists.
