Tennessee's J.P. Estrella (foot) to miss entire season

Sophomore forward J.P. Estrella of Tennessee announced on Monday that he will undergo foot surgery, ending his season.
Estrella has been absent from the team's last three games due to a left foot injury and may consider applying for a medical redshirt.
The 6-foot-11 player had an average of 4.7 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 10.3 minutes in the first three games of the season.
In a social media post, Estrella stated, "This injury has been a persistent issue and it is crucial to address it. Although I am disappointed that I won't be able to play for the rest of the season, I am still thrilled to be a part of this program and will do everything in my power to support my teammates as we work towards our goals."
The Volunteers (6-0) claimed victory over Baylor with a score of 77-62 on Friday, winning the Baha Mar Championship in Nassau, Bahamas.
Estrella added, "I will focus on my rehabilitation and come back even stronger next season. In the meantime, I can't wait to see all of you at Food City Center and celebrate many wins together. Go Vols."
The 247 Sports composite ranked Estrella as the No. 8 center and No. 61 player nationally. He was a four-star recruit in the Class of 2023 from Brewster Academy in South Portland, Maine.
As a freshman in 2023-24, Estrella played in 25 games off the bench for Tennessee, averaging 1.6 points and 5.0 minutes per game.
