Florida coach Todd Golden transitioning from Title IX investigation

Florida coach Todd Golden is content to focus on basketball while leaving behind allegations of sexual misconduct.

After a four-month Title IX investigation, the university cleared Golden on Monday of accusations including stalking, sexual exploitation, and sexual harassment. These allegations included sending unsolicited photos and videos of his genitals.

Florida stated that their investigation did not uncover any evidence against Golden.

During a press conference on Thursday to discuss the upcoming game against Tennessee, Golden stated, "I am happy to put it behind us. Moving forward, our full attention will be on our team and the game on Saturday. I look forward to discussing basketball with you all."

While most of the questions were about on-court matters, Golden was asked about rebuilding his reputation after the highly publicized accusations that shook the Gainesville campus.

"To be honest, it is a fair and valid question," said the 39-year-old Golden. "However, I am not concerned about that right now. My focus is on preparing our team and being ready for Saturday. I will worry about all of that later."

The complainants in the Title IX case still have the option to appeal the university's decision.

Despite the distractions, Golden's work on the court has been successful.

The Gators (18-2, 5-2 Southeastern Conference) are currently ranked No. 5 in the nation. They had a mid-week bye this week and have not played since their 89-59 victory over Georgia last Saturday.

"This was the perfect week for us to have a bye," Golden stated. "I would have been concerned if we had played on Tuesday or Wednesday, as it would have been difficult to mentally and physically prepare. But this week has been beneficial for us."

"We took Monday off, had a tough practice on Tuesday, and then took Wednesday off. We should be well-rested and ready to go for Saturday."
