Duke secures consecutive top-ranked recruiting class
The NCAA's early signing period has come to a close, and according to 247Sports rankings, Duke has solidified its third top recruiting class in the last four years.
Coach Jon Scheyer has secured a group of four five-star recruits, led by Cameron Boozer, who is ranked as the second overall prospect in the 2025 class and is the son of Duke legend Carlos Boozer.
Joining Boozer are Shelton Henderson (ranked 15th), Nikolas Khamenia (ranked 19th), and Cayden Boozer (ranked 21st), Cameron's twin. The Boozer brothers currently play at Columbus High School in Miami, while Henderson hails from Bellaire High in Bellaire, Texas and Khamenia from Harvard-Westlake High in Los Angeles.
Cayden Boozer plays as a guard, while the others are forwards.
On Thursday, Scheyer expressed his excitement for this group, stating that they align with his vision for the program since taking over from his mentor, Mike Krzyzewski.
"Individually, we are thrilled to have each of these players join us, but what excites me the most is the makeup of this class," Scheyer said. "There are two main qualities we look for in our recruits - competitiveness and basketball instincts. These four players possess both of those qualities, which is crucial for our program's success."
Scheyer, who took over as Duke's head coach for the 2022-23 season, has signed the top recruiting class in 2022 and 2024, and the second-ranked class in the year in between.
The incoming players have already achieved success in their young careers. The Boozer brothers have won three consecutive Florida state high school championships and have also earned gold medals with USA Basketball in U16 and U17 competitions. Khamenia has won back-to-back state titles and, along with Henderson, was a member of the gold-medal winning U18 team at the FIBA AmeriCup over the summer.
UConn's recruiting class is ranked second, followed by Kansas, Arkansas, and Kentucky.
