Continuing the Basketball Rivalry: Arizona and UCLA Maintain Tradition Beyond the Pac-12 Era

Arizona and UCLA are no longer in the same conference, but they have agreed to continue their rivalry on the basketball court in the upcoming years.

On Tuesday, the two teams announced a three-game series, with the first game taking place on December 14 in Phoenix at a neutral location.

Despite Arizona moving to the Big 12 and UCLA moving to the Big Ten, the two teams will also face off in the 2025 Hall of Fame Series in Las Vegas and again in Los Angeles in 2027. The exact dates for these games have not yet been determined.

According to Arizona coach Tommy Lloyd, the games between Arizona and UCLA have always held great significance for players, coaches, and fans across the country. He looks forward to adding more chapters to this historic rivalry.

UCLA coach Mick Cronin also expressed his excitement for the continuation of this rivalry, stating that it is important for both schools to find ways to keep playing each other.

UCLA has won a record 11 national titles in men's basketball, while Arizona has one title in 1997. The two teams have a combined 90 appearances in the NCAA Tournament.

In their all-time series, UCLA holds a 63-50 record against Arizona. They first became conference rivals in 1978-79 when Arizona joined the Pac-10.
