Auburn claims number one ranking in AP poll

Auburn ascended to the top spot in the Associated Press Top 25 poll for only the second time in program history, overtaking SEC rival Tennessee on Monday.
The Tigers (15-1) received 60 first-place votes, making them the third team to hold the No. 1 ranking this season. Auburn last held the top spot in early 2022.
The Volunteers (15-1) fell to No. 6 after suffering their first loss of the season to Florida (15-1), who now sits at No. 5. The Gators also received one first-place vote.
Iowa State (14-1) moved up one spot to No. 2, Duke (14-2) also moved up one spot to No. 3, and Alabama (14-2) climbed to No. 4.
Following Tennessee, Marquette (14-2), Kentucky (13-3), Kansas (12-3), and Houston (12-3) round out the top 10.
Georgia (14-2) made their first appearance in the poll in 13 years, debuting at No. 23 after victories over Kentucky and Oklahoma. Wisconsin (No. 24) and Baylor (No. 25) also entered the rankings this week.
Oklahoma, West Virginia, and UCLA dropped out of the Top 25.
