Norman Powell, top scorer for Clippers, to sit out third match
The top scorer for the Los Angeles Clippers, Norman Powell, will not be playing in their away game against the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday due to a strain in his left hamstring.
Powell, who has maintained an average of 23.3 points in 15 games this season, sustained the injury during the first quarter of their 102-99 victory against the Golden State Warriors on Monday. Despite this, he managed to finish the game and score the highest number of points for his team with 23.
Interestingly, the Clippers have won both games that Powell has missed and are now heading into a four-game road trip with a four-game winning streak.
Over the course of his 10-year career in the NBA, Powell has maintained an average of 12.6 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in 572 games (214 of which he started). This season, he has taken on a more prominent scoring role following the departure of Paul George to the 76ers and Kawhi Leonard's ongoing knee issues, which have prevented the six-time All-Star from playing a single game.
Speaking of Leonard, he has also been ruled out for Sunday's game as he continues to recover from his injury.
