Pistons' Isaiah Stewart suspended, fined after flagrant foul
The National Basketball Association has suspended Isaiah Stewart, a forward-center for the Detroit Pistons, for one game without pay. This decision was made after he accumulated his sixth flagrant foul point of the regular season.
During the Pistons' 133-119 loss to the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday, Stewart was charged with a flagrant foul 2 in the second quarter.
Since he already had four flagrant foul points on his record for the season, this call on Wednesday resulted in an automatic one-game suspension. Stewart will serve this suspension on Friday night when the Pistons take on the Dallas Mavericks at home.
In addition to the suspension, Stewart was also fined $50,000 for making inappropriate and objectionable gestures after his ejection, according to a news release from the NBA.
The 23-year-old Stewart has been averaging 5.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.3 blocks in 48 games (three starts) this season for the Pistons.
This is Stewart's fifth season with the Pistons and he is currently averaging 20.3 minutes per game, a decrease from his career-high of 30.9 minutes last season.
