NBA Recap: Nuggets Defeat Nets in Second Consecutive Overtime Victory
Nikola Jokic tallied 29 points, 18 rebounds and 16 assists, while Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon each contributed 24 points as the Denver Nuggets overcame the Brooklyn Nets 144-139 in overtime on Tuesday in New York.
Russell Westbrook came off the bench to score 22 points, Michael Porter Jr. added 16, and Christian Braun chipped in 12 for Denver, who secured their second consecutive overtime victory.
Brooklyn had seven players reach double figures, led by Dennis Schroder with 28 points and 14 assists. Cam Thomas also had a strong performance with 26 points.
The Nets scored the first points in overtime, but the Nuggets responded with an 8-0 run to take a 133-127 lead. Schroder hit a 3-pointer to bring Brooklyn within three points, but Braun answered with a deep shot of his own and Murray made one free throw to extend Denver's lead to seven.
Cameron Johnson drained a 3-pointer to cut the deficit to four points with 26.5 seconds remaining, but the Nuggets held on for the win.
In other games, the Mavericks defeated the Timberwolves 120-114 behind Kyrie Irving's 35 points, while the Kings dominated the Jazz 113-96 with 28 points from Domantas Sabonis and 20 points from DeMar DeRozan.
The Warriors also pulled off a comeback victory, beating the Pelicans 124-106 despite missing key players Stephen Curry, Andrew Wiggins, and De'Anthony Melton. Buddy Hield led the way with 28 points for Golden State, while Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram combined for 61 points for New Orleans.
