Monk's Calf Injury Forces Him to Sit Out for 2 Weeks
Sacramento Kings guard Malik Monk will be sidelined for the remainder of the regular season and the play-in tournament due to a left calf strain.
The team reported the injury on Thursday and stated that Monk, who did not participate in Wednesday's defeat against the Denver Nuggets, will undergo a re-evaluation in two weeks.
At 27 years old, Monk achieved career highs in points (17.2), assists (5.6), and rebounds (3.8) in 65 games (45 starts) this season.
With two games remaining in their regular season, the Kings (39-41) have secured a spot in the play-in tournament and are currently in ninth place in the Western Conference. The play-in games will take place from April 15-18, with the first round beginning on April 19.
Based on the team's timeline, Monk's earliest possible return would be on April 24.
Selected as the 11th overall pick by Charlotte in 2017, Monk holds career averages of 12.3 points, 3.2 assists, and 2.6 rebounds in 523 games (83 starts) with the Hornets (2017-21), Los Angeles Lakers (2021-22), and Kings.
