Lauri Markkanen's Jazz F Status Listed as Day-to-Day Due to Back Injury
Jazz power forward Lauri Markkanen is currently listed as day-to-day due to a lower back spasm that caused him to leave Utah's 113-96 defeat against the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday evening.
Markkanen played for 17 minutes against Sacramento before sitting out the entire second half. He ended the game with seven points, three rebounds, and one assist.
According to Jazz coach Will Hardy, Markkanen will receive treatment on Wednesday. Utah's next game is on Thursday against the San Antonio Spurs in Salt Lake City. Hardy will make a decision on Markkanen's availability closer to game time.
In the four games he has played this season, Markkanen has averaged 18.0 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.8 assists. He has been one of the few bright spots for the struggling Jazz, who currently have a record of 0-4.
Markkanen, who is 27 years old, was selected as an All-Star during the 2022-23 season.
