"Knicks and Coach Tom Thibodeau Reach 3-Year Extension Agreement, According to Report"
According to ESPN, the New York Knicks have agreed to a three-year contract extension with coach Tom Thibodeau on Wednesday.
The details of the deal have not been disclosed, but it will keep Thibodeau with the team until the end of the 2027-28 season.
Last season, the Knicks finished with a 50-32 record and secured the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs. Thibodeau, who is 66 years old, has a regular season record of 175-143 in his four seasons with the team, and a playoff record of 14-15.
In the Eastern Conference semifinals, the Knicks were eliminated by the Indiana Pacers in seven games. This was their second consecutive appearance in this round, and they have made it to the playoffs in three of Thibodeau's four seasons as coach.
Prior to coaching the Knicks, Thibodeau also led the Chicago Bulls (2010-2015) and the Minnesota Timberwolves (2016-2019). His overall coaching record is 527-389.
Thibodeau was named the NBA Coach of the Year for the second time in his career in the 2020-2021 season, a decade after winning the award for the first time with the Bulls.
