'Injury Forces Grizzlies Forward Jaylen Wells to End Season After Terrifying Fall'

'Jaylen Wells, Grizzlies Forward, Expected to Miss Rest of Season After Terrifying Tumble'

Rookie forward Jaylen Wells of the Memphis Grizzlies suffered a serious injury during Tuesday's game and had to be carried off the court on a stretcher. It is likely that he will not be able to play for the rest of the season.

On Friday, the Grizzlies announced that Wells had a concussion, a facial cut, and a broken wrist. The team's statement stated that Wells is expected to fully recover, but he will most likely miss the remainder of the 2024-25 season. More updates will be provided as needed.

The Grizzlies, who currently have a record of 47-33, will finish their regular season with games against the Denver Nuggets on Friday and the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday. They have secured a spot in the Western Conference play-in round.

During the second quarter of Tuesday's game, 21-year-old Wells fell hard on the court after being fouled while attempting a dunk. Charlotte Hornets guard KJ Simpson caused the fall by undercutting Wells. Medical staff immediately rushed to his aid as players from both teams kneeled in prayer. After 23 minutes, the game resumed.

Wells was taken to a hospital in the Charlotte area and was discharged on Wednesday according to his agent.

In the regular season, Wells averaged 10.4 points and 3.4 rebounds in 79 games, starting in 74 of them.
