Cavaliers' Donovan Mitchell (ankle) anticipated to participate in complete practice this week

The Cleveland Cavaliers have seemingly avoided catastrophe, as head coach Kenny Atkinson provided an update Sunday on superstar Donovan Mitchell, stating that the six-time All-Star would fully participate in practice this week.

Mitchell had to depart a 120-113 defeat against the Sacramento Kings on April 6 due to a sprained left ankle. He did return to the game, but was unable to play in the team's next matchup against the Chicago Bulls.

The 2022-23 All-NBA point guard was declared out for today's final regular-season game against the Indiana Pacers, marking his fourth consecutive absence.

Atkinson previously described the injury as "minor," and Mitchell was seen before the Cavs' game against the Indiana Pacers on Sunday engaging in intense workouts with associate head coach Johnnie Bryant.

Mitchell, 28, is currently averaging 24 points and five assists per game. He has appeared in 71 games this season, but the team has limited his playing time, keeping him at a career-low of 31.4 minutes per game.

The Cavaliers (64-17) have secured the top seed in the Eastern Conference and will begin their playoffs with a first-round series against a play-in winner next weekend.
