'76ers' Joel Embiid Receives Technical Foul After Distracting Opponent During Free Throw'
Despite not having played yet this season, the Philadelphia 76ers' star center Joel Embiid has already received a technical foul.
The league issued the technical on Monday, the day after Embiid waved a towel from the bench during a free-throw attempt by Indiana Pacers' guard Andrew Nembhard at the same end of the court.
The incident took place with 16.4 seconds remaining in overtime, with Philadelphia leading 114-111.
Embiid's actions occurred during Nembhard's first free throw, which he missed. Nembhard made the second one, but Indiana ultimately lost 118-114.
No foul was called during the game.
Embiid, who is 30 years old, has been out of action due to managing a left knee injury. He only played in 39 games (all of which he started) for the 76ers last season, averaging 34.7 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 5.6 assists.
Embiid's next opportunity to play will be on Wednesday, when Philadelphia takes on the Detroit Pistons at home.
