Veteran pitcher Clayton Kershaw, who is set to join the Hall of Fame, has confirmed that he underwent surgeries on his foot and knee on Thursday. He is now focused on rehabilitation and aims to make a comeback for his 18th season in 2025.

Dr. Kenneth Jung performed the surgery on his left foot, while renowned surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache repaired the meniscus in his left knee.

On Thursday, Kershaw took to Instagram to express his gratitude towards the doctors and his determination to come back stronger next year. He also thanked everyone for their prayers and support, and celebrated the Dodgers' World Series victory.

The 36-year-old pitcher only played seven games in 2024 due to a left shoulder surgery in the offseason. He made his season debut on July 25, but later suffered a ruptured plantar plate and arthritis in his left foot.

Kershaw, a three-time NL Cy Young Award winner and 2014 NL MVP, did not participate in the postseason. He has been a key member of the Dodgers' rotation and has spent his entire MLB career with the team.

In 2022 and 2023, Kershaw played on one-year contracts before signing a $5 million deal for 2024 with a $10 million option for 2025. He earned $7.5 million in 2024 with incentives.

Although he declined the 2025 option, it is likely that Kershaw and the Dodgers will negotiate another incentive-based contract for the season. He has declared himself a "Dodger for life" at the World Series parade and is currently a free agent, giving the team some flexibility to work with during the offseason.
