"Season-ending Injury Could Spell the End for Rangers' Shortstop Corey Seager's Season"
The Texas Rangers' standout shortstop, Corey Seager, was put on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday due to discomfort in his hip.
It is possible that this injury will bring an end to Seager's season. As of Wednesday, the Rangers (66-73) were 9 1/2 games behind the Houston Astros in the American League West and 8 1/2 games out for the final wild-card spot.
The team's general manager, Chris Young, stated that they are waiting for test results before making any decisions about the rest of Seager's season or his recovery timeline.
Seager was absent from Tuesday's game against the New York Yankees due to the injury. However, he did serve as the designated hitter in Monday's series opener.
At 30 years old, Seager has a batting average of .278 with 30 home runs and 74 RBIs in 123 games this season. This marks his third consecutive season with 30 or more home runs for the Rangers.
Last season, the Rangers were crowned World Series champions and Seager was named MVP of the Fall Classic for the second time. He also received this honor in 2020 when the Los Angeles Dodgers won the championship.
In his career, Seager has hit 19 home runs in 78 postseason games.
Seager underwent surgery in January to repair a sports hernia.
