"Reds Acquire Brady Singer, Royals Add 2B Jonathan India to Roster"

On Friday, the Cincinnati Reds acquired second baseman Jonathan India and outfielder Joey Wiemer from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for right-handed starting pitcher Brady Singer.

As they focus on star Elly De La Cruz, the Reds decided to part ways with India, who was named the 2021 National League Rookie of the Year. India has one year left on his current contract and is eligible for arbitration in 2026.

In 2024, India, who was drafted fifth overall by the Reds in 2018, played in 151 games and had a .248 batting average with 15 home runs, 28 doubles, and 58 RBIs. In his four-year career with the Reds, he has a .253 batting average, 63 home runs, 101 doubles, 229 RBIs, and 42 stolen bases.

Wiemer, who is 25 years old, split the 2024 season between Milwaukee and Cincinnati, appearing in 21 games and going 4-for-26 with two runs.

Meanwhile, Singer, who spent his first five seasons with the Royals, will now join the Reds. In 2024, he had a 9-13 record with a 3.71 ERA and a career-high 170 strikeouts in 32 starts.

In his MLB career, the 28-year-old has a 36-44 record with a 4.28 ERA in 127 games (124 starts), with 645 strikeouts and 214 walks.
