"Phillies Ink Deal with Right-Handed Pitcher Jordan Romano"

Breaking News: Phillies Ink Deal with RHP Jordan Romano

The Philadelphia Phillies and two-time All-Star Jordan Romano have reached an agreement on a one-year contract worth $7.75 million, according to reports from ESPN and The Athletic on Monday.

The 31-year-old right-hander was not offered a contract by Toronto earlier this offseason. The Phillies are strengthening their bullpen following the departures of Jeff Hoffman and Carlos Estevez in free agency.

Romano posted a 1-2 record with a 6.59 ERA in 15 relief appearances for the Blue Jays last season. He also battled injuries and underwent surgery on his right elbow in July, ending his season.

In 2022 and 2023, Romano recorded 36 saves and was selected for the All-Star Game both years. In his career, he has a record of 20-17 in 231 relief appearances with 105 saves and an impressive 2.90 ERA.
