The Philadelphia Phillies altered their bullpen during Tuesday's trade deadline by acquiring lefty Tanner Banks from the Chicago White Sox and sending fellow southpaw Gregory Soto to the Baltimore Orioles.

In the Chicago deal, Philadelphia traded away minor league infielder William Bergolla and in the Baltimore swap, they acquired right-handed pitching prospects Seth Johnson and Moises Chace.

Banks, who is 32 years old, has a record of 2-2 and an ERA of 4.13 in 41 appearances (one start) for the White Sox this season. He has successfully converted two out of six save opportunities and has recorded 55 strikeouts and 15 walks in 48 innings.

The left-hander is particularly effective against left-handed hitters, limiting them to a .184 average and a .492 OPS this season. He has struck out more than a third (28) of the 83 left-handed batters he has faced.

Banks, who has been in the league for three years, has a career record of 5-6 and an ERA of 3.89 in 108 games (four starts), all with Chicago.

Bergolla, who is 19 years old, had a batting average of .295 with one home run and 29 RBIs in 67 games this season for High-A Jersey Shore.

Soto, who is 29 years old, had a record of 2-4 and an ERA of 4.08 in 43 relief appearances for the Phillies this season. He has a career record of 13-28 and an ERA of 4.23 in six seasons for the Detroit Tigers (2019-22) and Phillies (2023-24).

Johnson, who is 25 years old, has a record of 0-6 and an ERA of 2.63 in 18 starts this season at Double-A Bowie. Chace, who is 21 years old, has a record of 2-2 and an ERA of 3.46 in 17 games (nine starts) for High-A Aberdeen.
