"Michael McGreevy Set to Make First Appearance as Lance Lynn Placed on Injured List"

Michael McGreevy, a right-handed pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, was moved up from Triple-A Memphis to make his first appearance in the major leagues against the Texas Rangers on Wednesday.

In addition, the Cardinals made the decision to put right-hander Lance Lynn on the 15-day injured list due to inflammation in his right knee.

At the age of 24, McGreevy will be the eighth player (and sixth pitcher) to debut for St. Louis this season.

Selected as the 18th overall pick in the 2021 draft, McGreevy has a record of 5-7 with a 4.45 ERA in 20 starts for Memphis this year. In his last three starts, he has given up five runs in 17 1/3 innings, including six scoreless innings in his most recent outing. He is currently ranked as the Cardinals' No. 15 prospect by MLB Pipeline.

On Tuesday, Lynn, who is 37 years old, earned a win against the Rangers after allowing just one run on three hits in five innings during an 8-1 victory. He has a record of 6-4 with a 4.06 ERA in 21 starts this season and has a career record of 142-99 with a 3.75 ERA in 362 games (338 starts) with six different teams.

Additionally, the Cardinals have brought up Ryan Loutos from Memphis, sent fellow right-hander Chris Roycroft down to the Triple-A club, and designated righty Jacob Bosiokovic for assignment.

Loutos, who is 25 years old, has only given up two hits in 1 1/3 scoreless innings in his two relief appearances with St. Louis this season.
