The Los Angeles Dodgers put experienced catcher Austin Barnes on the 10-day disabled list with a broken left big toe on Monday.

To fill Barnes' spot on the active roster, the Dodgers brought up catcher Hunter Feduccia from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Barnes participated in Sunday's game against the Atlanta Braves, but was replaced by starting catcher Will Smith in the fifth inning. After the game, Barnes had X-rays on his left big toe, which revealed a new fracture in a different location from a previous fracture he suffered last month.

At 34 years old, Barnes has played in 52 games this season, his 10th with the Dodgers. He has a batting average of .261 with one home run and 11 RBIs, and has also spent some time playing second base in addition to catcher.

Feduccia, 27, made his major league debut earlier this year. He has played in two games for the Dodgers, serving as a pinch hitter on July 31 and starting at catcher on August 25 against the Tampa Bay Rays.

In 82 games for Oklahoma City this year, Feduccia has a batting average of .284 with six home runs and 50 RBIs.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts also announced that relief pitcher Joe Kelly (shoulder) returned to the team on Monday and will be activated later this week when the Dodgers face the Miami Marlins.
