The recovery of Los Angeles Dodgers' left-handed pitcher Blake Snell suffered a setback due to inflammation in his throwing shoulder.

According to Dodgers' manager Dave Roberts, Snell did not feel well after playing catch on Tuesday and will be taking a break from throwing. Roberts also mentioned that Snell might undergo further imaging on his shoulder.

Snell, who is 32 years old, was placed on the 15-day injured list on April 6 (retroactive to April 3). His initial MRI showed inflammation in his aching shoulder.

Snell only started two out of the Dodgers' first eight games this season and had a record of 1-0 with a 2.00 ERA. However, he had a high number of walks (8) and a low number of strikeouts (4) in his nine innings of work.

The two-time Cy Young Award winner (AL in 2018, NL in 2023) and 2018 All-Star, Snell signed a lucrative five-year, $182 million contract with the Dodgers in November.

Drafted in the first round by the Tampa Bay Rays in 2011, Snell has a career record of 77-58 with a 3.18 ERA in 213 starts for the Rays (2016-20), San Diego Padres (2021-23), San Francisco Giants (2024), and Dodgers.
