Jackson Holliday, who began the season as the top prospect in baseball according to MLB Pipeline but struggled during his initial stint in the major leagues, is returning to the Baltimore Orioles, as reported by multiple media outlets on Tuesday night.

Holliday, who is only 20 years old, is being called up to take the place of fellow infield prospect Connor Norby, who was traded to the Miami Marlins on Tuesday along with outfielder Kyle Stowers in exchange for left-handed starting pitcher Trevor Rogers.

It is unclear if Holliday, who was the first overall pick in the 2022 draft, will be activated in time for Wednesday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays. He is expected to primarily play second base, the same position Norby had been starting at.

Holliday struggled in his first 10 games with the Orioles, going 2-for-34 (.059) with 18 strikeouts in April. However, he has been performing well at Triple-A Norfolk, hitting .271 with 10 home runs, 38 RBIs, 75 runs, and a .908 OPS in 73 games this season.

In addition to trading Norby, the Orioles are also dealing with the absence of infielder Jorge Mateo, who dislocated his left elbow last week and was moved to the 60-day injured list on Tuesday.
