2025 marks the comeback of home/away jerseys for the All-Star Game
Major League Baseball has taken steps to address a common complaint about the All-Star Game. Now, players will wear their regular home and road team uniforms during the Midsummer Classic.
Since 2021, players on the American League and National League teams have worn special All-Star Game uniforms. However, starting with the 2025 game in Atlanta, National League players will once again wear their home white uniforms and American League players will wear their typical road uniforms.
There will still be an All-Star Game-specific jersey worn during other All-Star Week activities, but participants in next year's Home Run Derby will wear their regular team uniforms.
All-Star Game participants will continue to wear a special All-Star Game cap throughout the week.
MLB has also addressed complaints about the new 2024 regular-season uniforms, including the materials used and larger lettering for players' names, which some teams have already implemented.
Complaints were immediate after the All-Star Game-specific jerseys were introduced in Colorado in 2021, with the American League wearing an all-navy blue jersey. The visiting team uniforms have been a solid dark color ever since, including this year's all-black National League jersey.
From the 1930s until 2019, All-Star Game participants wore their team-issued uniforms.
