Giants' Andrew Thomas: Expected to miss Week 1
Thomas (foot) is listed as doubtful ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Commanders, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
The 26-year-old took first-team reps during Friday's practice but is still concerned about the risk of re-injury, telling reporters "we'll see" when asking about his availability Sunday, per Salomone. If Thomas is unable to return for the Giants' Week 1 affair, expect James Hudson to play as the starting left tackle.

Giants' Malik Nabers: Clear for Week 1
Nabers (back) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's game at Washington, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Nabers tended to a number of health concerns during training camp and the preseason, notably back tightness that plagued him most recently. The Giants even held him out of drills Friday due to the injury, as coach Brian Daboll told Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com. In the end, though, Nabers will be available as the top target for starting QB Russell Wilson as he looks to build upon the 109-1,204-7 line on 170 targets he put together as a rookie last season.

Giants' Malik Nabers: Dealing with back tightness
Coach Brian Daboll noted that the Giants will "back down" on Nabers at Friday's practice, with the wideout dealing with some back tightness, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
While it looks like Nabers will be limited to some degree at Friday's practice, Daboll downplayed the issue, noting of the star wideout, "He'll be all right." In any case, Friday's final practice/injury report will determine whether or not Nabers approaches Sunday's season opener against the Commanders with an injury designation.

Giants' Andrew Thomas: Thursday's absence part of plan
Thomas (foot) sat out Thursday's practice, Patricia Traina of SI.com reports.
Coach Brain Daboll indicated that Thomas' absence Thursday was a planned precaution, per Paul Schwartz of the New York Post, after the starting left tackle participated in limited fashion Wednesday. While Thomas may find himself carrying an injury designation on Friday's report into Week 1 action against the Commanders, he appears to be on track to play.
